PROBLEM:
It's the first of the month and I don't have LIVE Data!

PROBLEM:
You're getting a Roll Forward message when you log in. What should I do? How do I roll my contracts on Tradovate?
SOLUTION:
About one week before your contracts' expiration dates, start to "Roll contracts", or move the instruments you have open forward to the next expiration date.
This is different for each instrument class. Take heed to move your contracts up in a timely manner. This LINK covers NinjaTrader 8, NinjaTrader online, Tradovate.com, and Tradovate mobile App. It will give you helpful information.
PROBLEM:
Error Message: "Liquidation only, contract is about to be expired. Please contact the Trade Desk."
SOLUTION:
This error message means you're attempting to trade in an expired contract month. Do not submit a ticket! Follow these steps:
1. Research the instrument to know the correct front month. CME Group Markets
2. Understand the Contract Trading Codes: CME Education Contract Codes
3. Find your product. Check to see what is the current contract by combining the information you learned in steps 1 and 2. Example: MNQH4 on Friday, 3/15, Expiration Day! Attempting to be traded.
MNQM4 is the current contract (JUNE).
4. Pay attention to all Roll Contract warnings! NinjaTrader Roll Contract pop-ups come about one-week prior to expiration. Tradovate platform starts suggesting to roll contracts a few days before expiration. Both give pop-ups concerning the upcoming expirations daily, IF you log out and then log in again.
PROBLEM:
What if I'm in an expired position? Who can close my trade?
SOLUTION:
There is no external way to close positions in expired contracts. Submitting a Help Desk ticket CANNOT resolve this. Please note that Tradovate has expired the contracts at 9:30 AM EST on the expiration date. This potentially traps traders in open positions, as those contracts will remain open until market close.
There is no recourse for being in a contract for an instrument that expired and for which you didn't do the research. Traders are solely responsible for doing their own due diligence.
